Army Reserve general nominated for second star

FORT JACKSON, S.C. — President Obama has nominated an Army Reserve general at a South Carolina post for a second star and a new command position.

A statement released by Defense Secretary Robert Gates says Army Reserve Brig. Gen. Glenn J. Lesniak has been nominated for appointment to major general. Lesniak is serving as the deputy commanding general of the 81st Regional Support Command at Fort Jackson.

He also has been assigned as the commanding general of the 88th Regional Support Command at Fort McCoy in Wisconsin.

The nomination is subject to congressional approval.
