Hometown: Lexington

Service: U.S. Army from March 1945 to May 1947 as an engineer.

Family: Wife, Irene; daughters, Ruby Iszler and Dona Major, both of Jamestown, N.D., and Rita Beck of Wellesley, Mass; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

     Occupation: Retired auctioneer and owner of Valley Implement Co. in Lexington from 1950 to 1989.

Escort: Wife, Irene Lahm of Lexington.

Each issue until their flight, the Hub will profile one of the 25 veterans planning to go on the Hero Flight to Washington, D.C., to visit the National World War II Memorial.

To contribute to Buffalo County’s Hero Flight project, donors should make checks payable to Legion Post 52. All donations should be mailed or delivered to the Kearney Hub at 13 E. 22nd St., or P.O. Box 1988. The Hub will regularly report the progress of the fund drive.

Donor names will be published unless anonymity is requested. If desired, brief statements of “in memory of,” or “in honor of” will be published along with the donor name and amount.
