CHILD RESCUED FROM HIS TORMENTORS, HELD IN SECRET CUBAN PRISON

KIDNAPPERS STILL ELUDE DRAGNET

By Gordon Duff STAFF WRITER

Mohammed El-Gharani was taken from Pakistan while praying in a Mosque in 2001.  7 years later, the US government released him after admitting he was never an enemy combatant nor had he been involved in any acts against anyone.  He was simply kidnapped, tortured and finally released after years of confinement in violation of the Geneva Convention and UN Conventions on child welfare.

The Bush government tried to present statements against this child who had been given to us by Pakistani police without any evidence or reason, which had been elicited from other prisoners by torture.  The prisoners whose statements we tried to use, never knew the child.

US courts threw out these statements and demanded his release.  Reliable reports indicate he was sexually tortured by US forces in Afghanistan after being brought into that country by US agents.

The individuals responsible for this crime, namely George W. Bush, Richard Cheney, John Ashcroft, Alberto Gonzales and Donald Rumsfeld are still at large.  Illegal kidnapping, transport, detention and torture of a child is a crime in, not only every state in the union, but violates numerous international conventions to which the United States is signatory.

Due to the sexual nature of these crimes, the failure to prosecute and include all individuals involved and include them on the sex crimes registry is a mystery to legal authorities around the world.

Mohammed El-Gharani is the youngest of 22 children, most of whom are still held in the secret torture facility in Cuba.

It is not clear as to whether others are held under the same illegal circumstances as this child was, as photographic evidence of treatment is being withheld from scrutiny by the United States government, fearing disclosure will bring about acts of retaliation against Americans around the world.

Kidnapped illegally from Pakistan, with absolutely no evidence or reason, with no information showing any affiliation with any organization nor any invovlement in any conflict, this is, thus far, the most convincing proof of the lengths Bush adminstration officials would go to in filling prisons with Islamic people, regardless of reason age or circumstances, even without any remote thought of morality.

Mohammed El-Gharani was held for one reason only.  The US needed a scapegoat to accuse of something and didn’t care how young or how innocent a person they got so long as he was Islamic.

Those of us who have served our country honorably during wartime want to thank the individuals who continually beat this child and especially the soldier who held scissors to his penis.

Now, when I travel through the Islamic world, often wearing my Marine Corps t-shirts in public, I can take personal pride in having been a part of something special.

If I see people clutch their children and cross the street, I won’t take personal offense.  They will simply be under the belief that all American soldiers are mindless perverts and child abusers.

Should I try to explain?  What would I say?
