Former CIA Directors Ask Administration to Drop Probe Into Interrogations – W.P.

In today’s Washington Post, seven former CIA directors have asked the President to halt the Attorney General’s investigation into abuses by intelligence interrogators.  The story is here.

Hell no!

Only fascist governments attempt to halt investigations concerning anything of this magnitude. Yes, there will be expensive lawyers involved.  Yes, interrogators being investigated will have to bear that expense.  Yes, careers could be ruined and people could go to prison for extended periods of time. So what?

Lets get something straight right from the start.  There has to be a little reality check here for these princes of American government.  They are out of touch.  They may be implicated in these crimes.  To be frank, they are running for cover.  Lets not BS each other.  They are afraid, and not for agents, but for themselves.

Of the roughly 235 federal agencies, departments, bureaus and offices in the national government, about 85 of them are allowed to use weapons and act like a police force with police powers.  That means that they can interrogate.

And that means, the chances of physical abuse and even death at their hands are apparently quite real, if what we have learned about intelligence community interrogators is generally true across the board for federal agencies.

And that means if your national government gets its paws on you and it decides to interrogate you, then you could wind up dead.

That is the chilling reality that the Bush Administration has taught us.  Apparently, if the stories are true,  for at least a generation we have been abusing people we interrogate to the point of death.  That is what Hitler did.  That is what Stalin did.  That is what dozens of South American generalissimos did for generations.  That is the very beginning of a police state.  That is the beginning of the end of this Republic.

If war crimes were committed, then war crimes must be prosecuted.

To hell with the seven CIA directors.

Attorney General Holder: investigate with extreme prejudice and go where ever the investigation takes you.
