Now here is an odd but interesting story from the Sphere blog entitled Why So Many Terrorists Get Their Start as Engineers . The piece does not really attempt to answer the question presented, but it sure does point out an oddity about Islamic terrorists and their education of choice.
It really makes one think. Most of our pilots and navigators have some engineering background, if not engineering degrees. Our missile people also have this sort of education. So it would make sense that bomb making and bomb carrying extremists would also come from a similar background. Yet, it does seem to have an eerie sense to it that I must admit is a tad frightening. How can someone so smart get involved in this craziness?
