The tide is rolling out on the CinC. Democrats are defecting even in the media.

If today’s Op Ed by Maureen Dowd in the Washington Post is any indication, the President and Commander in Chief has now more or less lost the Left wing of the Democratic Party as an ally…in any endeavor…for damned near anything. 

The piece is entitled As the Nation’s Pulse Races, Obama Can’t Seem to Find His and it is remarkable in its raw acknowledgement that all is not well between the President and those of us on the Left.  I am just going to say this.  We put him in office.  He has left us out in the snow.  This does not bode well for anyone. Disaffected family often ruin the holiday party; on purpose.  He needs to know that.

At some point, all the personality cultism comes crashing down and his political supporters who were the mainstay of his campaign army want what they worked hard to get.  That is not happening, in any way. "Now hear this! Stand by for heavy rolls!"

This will affect veterans in ways that are still unclear.  In the end, when a President’s own political party is splitting over his actions or inactions relative to their needs and expectations, they simply walk away from him.  That is to say, his "agenda" dies the bitter death of being politely ignored by those very same people he needs to get it on line.  That is happening right now, in a very big way, within the Democratic Party.

I am going to state this simply.  It will cause problems for me online here, but it has to be said.  He is not who he said he was politically or philosophically.

The President appears to be a political and philosophical chameleon in many ways.  He can take on any shade of political coloring he wants almost immediately to make a point in a lecture, but it is getting almost impossible now to detect what exactly the man’s core beliefs actually are.  They don’t seem to match up to what he said that he believed when he was campaigning. 

He seems to be the ulitmate political pragmatist and that is good as far as it goes relative to legislation passed.

But if the legislation does not match the will of the people who placed him into office, it is an exercise in frustration for them and it is a ticking time bomb politically for him.  If this blows up in his face, Americans will not elect another alleged Progressive for president in this country for at least another generation.  We cannot take the chance on being duped by another "personality" pretending he was someone that he is not.

If this man is simply a personality and not a really committed politician intent on moving forward with a progressive agenda that is much needed to save the rotting physical and social American infrastructure then the Democratic Party has been bamboozled and left wing Democrats like myself have made a gigantic mistake.  It would mean we had elected a celebrity, not a progressive poiltician.

The President’s stand on these ridiculous and ever widening wars in western and central Asia and now in Yemen show us on the Left in American politics that something is amiss.  Progressive do not widen wars in the middle of a vast economic downturn when one in nine American homes stand empty due to mortgage payment failure. They don’t ignore their base when we have 17.5% real unemployment among the workforce. They don’t talk about ‘systemic failure’ in our Department of Homeland Security when it remains a largely clueless and pointless beauracracy with no real direction since its inception.

When less than 1% of the American population is wearing an armed forces uniform and these people have been placed into combat five or six times in an unpopular war for the benefit of the oligarchs, we have a modern version of slavery operating here.

These people and their families are literally being broken and shredded for political and/or economic policies that benefit only the super wealthy, the Dick Cheney’s of the world.  This is a recipe for revolution.

Mr. President, you have to see what is happening.  If you are "going along to get along" then you are going to preside over more social unrest in this country than we have seen since the 1960s. 

At some point, and relatively soon, we will face massive mutiny in the armed forces and it will be directed by the shattered families of the soldiers and marines we have sacrificed on the Altars of Mamon for more wealth accumulation for the very, very few.

What gain is in this endless string of wars for them?  What do they have to gain by sacrificing loved ones and their family’s well being over and over simply for the portfolios of the fat and gilded and out of touch and unconcerned Patricians that are directing these wars?

We thought we had worked hard to elect a leader.  If all you are is a personality, you had better find your cajones quickly.  Your political capital among those of us who worked hard to put you in office is gone.  It will get very bad for you if your friends simply turn their backs on you.

People are dying Mr. President for the sake of the powerful and privileged.  The least you can do is act concerned.
