SC Lt. Gov. Compares Poor to ‘Stray Animals’ – AOL News

AOL News is reporting tonight that the Lt. Governor of South Carolina, Andre Bauer, who is running to replace the ill-fated Mark Sanford as governor, has openly compared the poor of his state to stray animals.  When given a chance to explain himself, he only dug himself deeper into a hole.

I am not sure what to say.  Somehow or other “wow” just does not have the power I am looking to register.  The story appears on the Sphere blog tonight and is entitled SC Lt. Gov. Compares Poor to ‘Stray Animals’ .

This is the New South?  It looks remarkably like the Old South.

If this is the kind of “enlightened politics” we are going to be facing this Fall in the South and other “conservative” parts of the American electorate, I would rather be a citizen of some banana republic.  At least in those governments the hatred is a lot more above board and the fascism is openly endorsed as normal.

We are in serious trouble economically in our nation.  There will be more than the normal share of “poor people” in our economy for many years to come because  of the shenanigans of the “Robber Barons of Wall Street” essentially sending tens of millions of Americans to the poor house.

If this is the kind of support we can expect from highly placed government officials running for office, when this is coupled to the recent Supreme Court decision to allow corporate entities to flush unlimited amounts of money into elections we have a recipe for a police state covered over with a veneer of social engineering that will make American politics every bit as radical and dangerous as German politics in the 1920s and 1930s ever was.

Welcome to the new paradigms present in Amerikan politics.  Amerika is here to stay I am afrad.
