America The Ungovernable – Newsweek

Newsweek Magazine online is running an article today entitled America The Ungovernable in which we learn that (1) the Democrats want to govern the country but are not sure how, (2) the Republicans want no government whatsoever except that government which the market place allows to limp by and (3) the American people are so divided on what they think “government” actually is that governing them is impossible.

If this is true, its the least of our worries.

We have two and possibly even three senseless wars to stop, jobs that must be created and sustained, a budget defecit that must be shrunk and somehow or other we have to do this while we attempt to govern ourselves in an environment where Big Money can buy any election it wants.

Welcome to the first part of the 21st Century and see how much the politics looks so much like the 1880s and 1890s.  This is a great time to be a robber baron, you are going to get whatever you want and there is very little to stop you now.  This is a not-so-great time to be anything poorer than a modern day Vanderbilt, J.P. Morgan or a Rockefeller because…..well, you’ll see!
