Habitat for Humanity Building Homes for Veterans Right Now!

Attention Military Veterans, espeically those looking to live in the Southern California area, Habitat for Humanity is building 27 homes to provide inexpenseive affordable housing for those that qualify.

Any Veteran thinking about buying a home in the future should stop by and check it out.

Habitat offers homeownership opportunities to families who are unable to obtain conventional house financing. Generally, this includes those whose income is 30 to 80 percent of the area’s median income. Prospective Habitat OC homeowner families make a down payment equal to 1% of the purchase price. Additionally, they contribute 500 hours of “sweat equity” on the construction of their home or someone else’s home. Because Habitat homes are built using donations of land, material and labor, mortgage payments are kept affordable.

Habitat is building 27 homes in San Juan Capistrano, California specifically for Veterans to own. The homes are sold at or below the organizations cost with a 1% down payment and a 0% interest loan. This is an excellent opportunity for you, and I urge you to explore this possibility!!

If Habitat does not place Veterans and their families in these homes then the property will go back to the city so it’s important that our Veterans get on this bandwagon and get it done. After all, Habitat is trying something different;  neighborhood where disabled veterans’ homes make being independent easier and so this is a good thing that can work for Military Veterans.

So consider an innovative neighborhood for active military families, veteran’s families, disabled vets and their families, and surviving families of fallen military men & women can create a kid-friendly, mutually supportive environment.

There’s a park and gazebo, garages and landscaped streets. Some of the homes are built to increase self-sufficiency for disabled veterans. VA medical services are close by.

The first ever, this exciting new concept, a first for any Habitat, is located on Calle Rolando in San Juan Capistrano. The qualifications as with all applicants, veterans, military personnel or surviving families must meet the standard Habitat OC qualifications. Additionally, the following is considered:

    * VA disability rating
    * Deployment from an Orange County base or Camp Pendleton
    * Non-taxable income, such as disability payments, is included in the family’s income calculation
    * HUD VASH housing vouchers are accepted.

This is a first with a dream to see Habitat neighborhoods like this go nationwide.
