Organization Benefiting Military Families To Be Introduced At Screening
The UltraStar 7 at Hazard Center will host a screening for a documentary film called A Hero’s Welcome July 23rd, 5:30 to 7 pm, 2010.
The screening is a complimentary and private event for veterans, active duty service men & women and reserves. Loved ones of these individuals are also welcome to attend the screening.
A Hero’s Welcome is a documentary film that tells the story of Medal of Honor Recipients, and a small town that stands up to remember these veterans year after year. The film features Medal of Honor Recipient, Lt. John Finn, who passed away recently at 100 years old. Lt. Finn had lived in the San Diego area for many years.
At the screening, Dr. Greg Greenwood will introduce the audience to a not-for-profit organization he founded called Home for the Holidays. This is a program that can assist active duty servicemen and women, who qualify, financial assistance to travel home and be with their loved ones. Greenwood says, “Home for the Holidays is a way that we, the public, can express our gratitude and appreciation for the sacrifices that our fellow military men, women and their families, endure routinely in protecting our freedom.”
Executive Producer of A Hero’s Welcome; Michael Brown, will also speak at the event about his movie, and is looking forward to screening the film with a San Diego audience. “I’m excited that A Hero’s Welcome is coming to San Diego and that we’ll get to show this film featuring Lt. Finn, in an area that he was from,” says Brown, “We’re also excited about our partnership with Home for the Holidays on this event, and that the organization will be discussed with the audience.”
