Houston Organization Recruits Record Number of Women Veterans for Entrepreneurship Conference

The WVBC recruited over 60 Women Veteran Entrepreners to attend the V-WISE Conferenc in San Antonio TX

The Women Veterans Business Center has recruited over 60 (Sixty) Women Veterans from Houston and surrounding cities to attend the first Veteran- Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship Conference (V-WISE). The Conference is for  Women Veterans interested in Entrepreneurship, includes two tracks of training; a ‘growth track’ tailored to those participants already in business, and a ‘startup’ track focused on potential future entrepreneurs.

Houston, TX, April 20, 2011  – The Women Veterans Business  Center has recruited over 60 (Sixty) Women Veterans to attend the Women Veterans Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship (V-Wise) Conference on May 5 – 7, 2011 in San Antonio, Texas.  The conference is exclusively for women veterans from all branches of the US military having served during any era with a passion for entrepreneurship and the desire to start or grow their own business.  Participants will be exposed to accomplished entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship educators from across the United States.   Training includes comprehensive instruction and mentorship focused on areas such as profit models, business plan development and unique funding opportunities for women veterans.

In the United States there are over 1.8 million Women Veterans with over 152,000 women veterans in the State of Texas (Center for Women Veterans, 2009). Entrepreneurship is a viable alternative for Women Veterans with transferrable skills from military service. The Women Veterans Business Center will host a “V-WISE Launch Event” on May 2, 2011 at The Palm Center, 5330 Griggs Rd, Houston, TX 77021. The event will feature a ‘Business Dress For Success presentation,’ a business plan check-up and sign-up for transportation assistance to/from the V-WISE Conference.
