PHOENIX (KSAZ) – The Department of Veterans Affairs, this week, released a report showing that some veterans died at the VA’s Phoenix medical center while waiting for medical care that they never received.
On Saturday veterans and their families gathered outside the VA Medical Center at third St & Indian School Rd calling for better care.
A flag flew high over three generations of veterans as they came together to fight for better medical care.
Some have external wounds; other wounds are internal.
“People need to go to jail, there are people who need to be fired and held account for this, we need to fill the VA with people who actually care,” said James Bawbush.
While they make their presence known outside the VA inside the building, the administration is fighting allegations that they hid records to cover up delayed care. Delayed care could be a factor in up to 40 veteran deaths.
Some veterans at Saturday’s protest say they’ve been waiting for medical care they never got.
