Smartphone or Tablet: Which One Do You Need?

The world, largely, is embracing the new technologies of smart phones and tablets. They are growing more popular every day; however a lot of people are still not sure. I recently helped my grandparents acquire a tablet and so far am getting on reasonably well with it. With most things it’s about findingwhat’s best for you. What suits you best? Within this article I hope to be able to help you make the decision whether or not you should plump for a smart phone or tablet, or even to stick with your old desktop computer.

In a perfect world, it would be easy to just get yourself a desktop computer, smart phone, and tablet from sites like Gumtree, however, these things are rather pricey – even the cheap ones – and so chances are you’re going to have to settle for one and not the others for now.
Size
That’s the first thing you’re going to notice between the two. Tablets are bigger, however new smartphones are becoming pretty big too, even to the point where the biggest smart phones are the same size as the smallest tablets. I would recommend that if you don’t have a computer and are looking for a device to use the internet for shopping and gaming, then it would be best to get a tablet. Their screen size lends itself to gaming apps and ecommerce. And if you’re of an older generation whose eye sight is fading, then the tablet is definitely the way to go as it’s easy to use and see, with big buttons.
Other bonuses to having a tablet are that they make great e-readers, plus they are brilliant for watching movies and catch-up channels like iPlayer.
On The Go
Phones are a lot easier to carry with you wherever you go. Tablets are bit bulky and are too prone to being dropped to take with you everywhere. A phone is easy as it comfortably sits in your pocket or bag making it perfect for those of you who are on the go.
Another reason for getting a smart phone is because if you have a desktop computer or laptop then you can do most things there, meaning your phone is perfect for apps like Facebook and Twitter. You can do all your shopping and TV catch-up on the computer and then all your portable stuff like social media, checking the weather, calculator, etc on your smartphone.
It’s Up to You
At the end of the day it is really up to you. Whichever one you feel more comfortable using is the best way to go. Go to a shop that specialises in selling this kind of technology and you can try out the various models, this way you’ll be able to get a feel for the one that will best suit your life style. I’ve weighed in with what I feel their strengths are, but when you pick one up you’ll know the one it’s supposed to be.
Failing all of this you could buy a new computer and keep your old banged up Nokia for phone calls. In the grand scheme of life, it doesn’t really matter if f you have smart phone or a tablet.
