Veteran VERIFIED™ uses proprietary process to help authenticate military service and provide a record of veteran business ownership

Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corp. today announced the launch of Veteran VERIFIED, proprietary business verification and authentication service that verifies both military service and veteran business ownership. Once the verification process is completed, a military serviceperson can showcase his or her veteran status sticker in storefronts; a point of sale; on the business website; or through social media.
A small business owners’ status as a military veteran can often provide a significant benefit. “People look at us differently because of the time that we served and because we did something for this country,” said John Chaverra, US Navy veteran and President and CEO of American Protection Group, Inc. “We make it a priority to make sure our customers know we have military backgrounds.”
Verification of military service and business ownership may also aid in the process of qualifying for government and corporate funds or contracts that have been specifically earmarked for veteran-owned businesses. According to the US General Services Administration, approximately $12 billion of federal agencies’ contracting dollars are earmarked for veteran-owned businesses.
“We are proud of all of our active and veteran military, and equally proud to offer a service to them that can add value to their growing businesses,” said Jeff Stibel, Chairman and CEO of Dun & Bradstreet Credibility. “Veteran business owners can use this service to better compete for business or seek additional funding earmarked for a veteran-owned business.”
Dun & Bradstreet Credibility, the leading provider of credit and credibility solutions for businesses, created the VERIFIED process to authenticate business information and ownership, using standard government procurement criteria. Business owners can verify their business information through several methods including verifying a payment type, business phone, business address, or providing one or more of five specific documents that can be uploaded and reviewed to prove business ownership. The business’s data is also distributed to more than 125 web properties and mobile sites to help provide a more consistent and accurate portrayal of the VERIFIED business.
Veteran VERIFIED adds an additional step, using a proprietary authentication process to confirm veteran status through collecting and reviewing service data, supporting documents and a declaration of authenticity. This process will be available to the approximately 2.5 million veteran-owned small businesses, as estimated by the US Small Business Administration.
