Republicans invent Kerry remarks on defending Iran from Israeli attack

The latest ploy came yesterday, when a detail in the agreement where all six P5+1 members promised to coordinate defenses against nuclear facility attacks was spun as some kind of defense commitment — a silly allegation.

If Israel were planning an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities that the US wanted to prevent, it would not be broadcast ahead of time, or ever admitted to. Such things are always done behind the scenes.

The neoCon Koch brothers and Adelson Republicans were issuing statements that sounded drafted by Bibi himself. All were in the accusation realm, with no facts to back them up, done solely for being quoted in our non-Jewish controlled media here. That’s a joke by the way.

We are watching this major national security achievement being exploited by the Republicans to gain the only adversarial wedge they can at this point: to get the Koolaid drinker spun up to vote for one of the Zionist shill candidates who will promise to repudiate the Iran agreement if elected, which several have already done.

But the US would be limited in what it could do at that point, as the world would not be with them, and despite all the blustering, that does count for something.

The US could do its own sanctions, which is why the BRICS and SCO groups are moving as fast as they can to set up an insulated trade and banking settlement system, and to remove large balances from the reach of neoCon hostage-taking.

The US stupidly shot its sanction threat wad on the Ukraine mess, and sped up the economic consolidation of Eurasia by twenty years. The airheads who thought this would be fun to do will now be looking at military integration and the “Silk Road Pivot”, because the silk road will negate the US Navy threat to blockade sea lanes.

Of course, these “we had to do it” defensive counters to US and NATO aggression will be spun as raw aggression from targeted countries, but only the political and financial hoodlums in the West will be swallowing that line of bull.

No matter how much control their Zio friends can provide in corporate media, the world does not trust them an inch on these issues. They are viewed as neo-Pravdas for what new scam is being pushed on the planet. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry stressed Thursday during a hearing with the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that at no stage in the nuclear deal has the U.S. promised to help Iran defend itself from any Israeli attack.

“We plan to be fully coordinated with Israel” along every step of the way, Kerry said, adding that he does not foresee any scenario in which the U.S. will be at odds with Israel over the issue.

Kerry made the comments after being asked by Republican Senator Marco Rubio about an article in the agreement in which the six world powers promised to provide Iran with nuclear security against sabotage of their facilities. After the nuclear deal was announced, claims were raised in U.S. and Israeli media outlets that the subtext of this article is that the U.S. and other world powers will assist Iran again any Israeli attack.

Kerry was testifying on Thursday before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in the first public hearing to defend the nuclear deal reached between six world powers and Iran. Kerry told U.S. lawmakers that he believed there was no better accord than the one clinched by the Obama administration, which he said was “a good deal for America, for the world and for our allies.”

Kerry’s appearance before the committee is part of the legislative oversight process that lawmakers will lead in the coming two months. In his opening remarks, Senator Bob Corker, the Republican chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, told Kerry that he had been “fleeced” by Iran.

Kerry for his part defended the deal, retorting that “We dismantled the Iranian ability to build a nuclear weapon.” He also likened the idea of a “better deal” to a unicorn, saying “it is a fantasy.”

Regarding Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu‘s criticism of the deal, which he said was a mistake of “historic proportions“, Kerry said that he “respects Netanyahu, considers him a friend and understands his concern,” but conceded that they are in disagreement over this issue.

“There is no question in my mind that this deal makes Israel safer,” Kerry said. Throughout the hearing Kerry, repeatedly quoted claims made by former Mossad chief Ephraim Halevy in favor of the deal as proof that were Israeli security officials who supported the agreement.

Kerry’s claims were echoed by Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz, who is also a nuclear physicist. Moniz said the “deal is based on science” and claimed “Iran will be further from a nuclear bomb capability with this deal rather than without it.” According to him, “every element of the Iranian nuclear R&D program is rolled back” as a result of the accord.

Ben Cardin, the committee’s top Democrat, asked Treasury Secretary Jack Lew if the U.S. will have the ability to sanction Iran for supporting terrorism or human rights violations, to which Lew answered yes, saying that sanctions for Iran’s support of terrorism will stay intact.

Idaho’s Republican Senator Jim Risch told Kerry during the hearing that he had been “bamboozled” by Iran, claiming that whoever thinks this a good deal is “ludicrous” and “enters the ranks of the most naive people in the world.”

Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer defended the administration against Risch’s claims, saying that “If you say Kerry was bamboozled, you say the entire world was bamboozled.”

Since the agreement was reached in Vienna last week, Washington has been all a flurry: Lobbyists supporting and objecting to the deal, experts from think tanks, and senior White House and State Department officials have been ducking in and out of meetings with lawmakers from both houses.

The main target of these efforts is a group of ‘swing’ Democratic lawmakers who could ‘defect’ and vote against the president and the deal in a vote scheduled for mid-September in they will decide whether to remove the crippling sanctions imposed on Iran in recent years, or move to extend them.

The current assessment is that the first vote in both Congress and the Senate will be dominated by the Republican majority that will vote to keep the sanctions intact, a move that will likely prompt a presidential veto by Obama. In response, a vote will be held in an attempt to override the veto.

According to Reuters, Kerry, Treasury Secretary Lew and Energy Secretary Moniz briefed the entire Senate and House of Representatives in separate closed-door sessions on Wednesday, and administration officials have held a series of private telephone conversations and meetings with lawmakers.

Congress has sixty days – or until September 17  – to approve the accord which will see Iran scale back its contested nuclear program and agree to international inspections of its alleged nuclear sites in return for an end to a crippling sanction regime.
