Veterans voice health care concerns with VA officials

Dozens of local veterans addressed concerns with officials from Overton Brooks VA Medical Center during a Thursday evening town hall meeting.
It is one of several town hall meetings Overton Brooks has conducted in Monroe over the past year.
The majority of the conversation involved personal medical concerns of those veterans in attendance. Though some said there was too much red tape within the VA system which they said needed to be remedied.
Thursday’s meeting was a stark difference from the town hall meeting held in October when numerous veterans complained about poor staff service, limited transportation to medical facilities and lack of regional services. That was the first meeting held locally by VA officials following national exposure of critical problems happening within the VA system.
