Harry Targ is a professor of political science and Director of Peace Studies at Purdue University, and is a regular contributor to The Rag Blog . On the show we discuss a range of topics including issues related to globalization, austerity, and the rise of resistance worldwide; the neocons, the neoliberals, the peace movement, and the important role of diplomacy, especially regarding Iran and Cuba; the Cuban revolution and how new U.S.-Cuban relations are likely to effect it; the contradictions of the Obama legacy; Hilary Clinton and interventionism; the amazing rise of Bernie Sanders; and what Targ sees as “a new spirit of revolution” and where progressives should go from here.

Joining Targ and Thorne Dreyer in the discussion is The Rag Blog‘s Roger Baker. At Purdue, Harry Targ has taught foreign policy, U.S./Latin American relations, international political economy, labor studies, and peace studies. A resident of West Lafayette, Indiana, Harry is a member of the National Executive Committee of the Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism (CCDS), works with the Northwest Central Labor Council (AFL-CIO) and the Lafayette Area Peace Coalition (LAPC), and is the author of Diary of a Heartland Radical.

Rag Radio Host and Producer Thorne Dreyer was a pioneer of the ’60s underground press movement and a leader in SDS and the New Left, and managed Pacifica Radio’s KPFT-FM in Houston. Dreyer edits The Rag Blog, an Internet news magazine with an international following, and is a director of the New Journalism Project. Rag Radio engineer and associate producer is Tracey Schulz.

Rag Radio is produced in the studios of KOOP 91.7-FM, an all-volunteer, cooperatively-run community radio station in Austin, Texas, in association with The Rag Blog and the New Journalism Project, a Texas 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The show is broadcast (and streamed) live Fridays, 2-3 p.m. (CDT) on KOOP, and is rebroadcast and streamed on WFTE-FM in Mt. Cobb and Scranton, PA., Sundays at 10 a.m. (EDT), on Houston Pacifica’s KPFT HD-3 90.1 on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. (CDT), and on KKRN 88.5-FM in Round Mountain, CA., at 7 p.m. (PDT) on the 2nd, 4th, and (when there is one) 5th Monday of every month.
