The GOP failed this week in an effort to open Gulf State skies to a rain of Israeli missiles.
This week, Republicans tried to overturn the American based missile defense system which has been initially proposed to defend regional nations against Iran. However, with the Iran deal safely in place and the regional threat significantly lowered something very strange, even by Washington standards, happened.
President Obama and the Democrats kept pushing for the system which would protect the Gulf Region from mid-range ballistic missiles. Republicans, directed by the powerful Israel lobby, worked to kill the system, leaving the Gulf States vulnerable to missile attack, not by Iran but by Israel itself.
Democrats on the hill carried a grab bag of excuses for the press and anyone willing to listen, a number less than “0.”
What security advisors around the president pointed out in private, once the Iran deal is secure, and the Iran deal is secure, then the only missile threat is from Israel against the Gulf States, which are predictably moving toward Iran.
In fact, the entire region will economically center in Iran particularly due to serious setbacks in China and Dubai that will continue to erode the world’s oil market.
Washington’s Israel-GOP caucus seems to have a plan, open the skies over the Gulf States so Israel can retain military clout, in the form of “Samson Option blackmail,” after the crushing political defeat dealt Israel by President Obama
