Employers offer jobs to veterans, spouses at one-day fair in North Chicago

New in town and looking for a job, Cyrus Okoro mustered a laugh out of a job recruiter Thursday when he explained why he was at the special job fair in North Chicago, held for military veterans and their spouses.
The 42-year-old Okoro just moved from Texas to Lake County with his wife, Stella, who is active duty Navy. It was her idea, he told the Manpower recruiter, Debbie Novak-Gard.
“Well, my wife handed me the flier and told me to go look for a job,” Okoro said with a laugh.
Several companies had the opportunity Thursday to offer veterans or their spouses employment during a special job fair in North Chicago. Job seekers got a chance to talk about their skills and see what kind of jobs are available in the private sector.
