Orlean Walker, who is a special woman and who is the widowed wife of Veteran Sgt. Bedford Walker, needs help to rebuild her home, says Camille Calvin on gofund.me/HelpMrsWalker.
Camille hopes philanthropic minded people will come forward to help rebuild Mrs. Walker’s home.
Veteran Sgt. Bedford Walker passed away and Orlean Walker, the veteran’s wife was suddenly facing tough times. Camille Calvin says she has known the widow of veteran all of her life. Even when she was young, her parents were leaving her at Mrs. Walkers home when they went to work and during summer because they could not afford childcare. The place of Mrs. Walker was much different from her city in Atlanta. Being in the countryside, the place was full of animals that Camille liked. Camille also liked playing outdoors. Mrs. Walker taught her many things including gardening, fishing, sewing and so on. She was like a mother-figure for her. In fact, Mrs. Walker was responsible for molding her.
Mrs Walker treated every child that came to her home like this. Her garden and produce were open to every needy family in the place.
But her home is now in a deteriorated and unlivable condition. But she continues to live there. If philanthropic minded people help rebuild Mrs. Walker’s Home, it will become livable and Mrs. Walker can continue to help to raise children in her home.
Once sufficient funds are available, the roof of the home can be rebuilt so there will be no more leaks in the house. The broken floor boards of the kitchen that cause the floor to sink in can be rectified. The sink and the piping beneath the sink also need repair because Mrs. Walker is unable to use the sink for washing her dishes. The kitchen cabinets are also falling apart.
Windows of the home have been separated from the walls because the building has sunk into the soil. So, the windows have to be re-fitted and sealed so Mrs. Walker need not suffer during icy winters and hot summers. Security bars should be fitted to the windows also.
Doors at the two entrances of the home are flimsy and they must be replaced and security doors with iron rods should be fitted at both the entrances.
The walls and floor boards around the tubs of the bathrooms should be replaced. Fixtures like the sink, toilet, medicine cabinet and tubs should be restored and replaced also.
The wood paneling on the walls should be insulated. The exposed wires in the electricity box in the hallway closet should be safely enclosed to prevent hazards like fire.
The fence that separates the front yard from the back yard should be replaced with a stronger one so the entire yard remains enclosed.
A local contractor has quoted $47,000 for carrying out all these tasks except the work pertaining to the fence. Camille Calvin says she welcomes donations. She is ready to take donated supplies or gift cards of home improvement stores also. Local people who belong to Forrest City, AR can volunteer to help them in this rehabilitation.
Once these tasks are carried out with the help of those who donate for this cause, the home will become livable so Mrs. Walker can continue helping to raise kids in the home.
