Sixteen-year-old Owen Norton saw a need, and he stepped up.
On Election Day, Nov. 8, Norton, a junior at B.M.C. Durfee High School, will be conducting a personal care item drive for local veterans at all 22 polling locations in Fall River.
Also, during the early voting period, which begins Oct. 24, the drive will be at Government Center, where residents will be able to drop off shampoo, toothbrushes, deodorant, floss, socks, underwear and other items to benefit local veterans’ needs.
“Veterans are some of the least appreciated members of society, yet they protect our freedoms and they put their lives on the line to keep us safe. This drive is a great way to show our appreciation and thanks,” Norton said Tuesday during a brief press conference outside the Fall River Veterans Center at 755 Pine St.
