As students at Hood College and Mount St. Mary’s University begin classes on Monday, many will likely have their minds on their course schedules and syllabi, planning out how they’re going to make it through the semester.
But across the United States, many students also find themselves thinking more and more about how, once they’re finished, they will afford the costs associated with taking those college classes.
Student loan debt has overtaken credit card debt in recent years as the second-largest amount of household debt for Americans, behind mortgages.
