(VOV) – The Mexico-Vietnam Friendly Parliamentarians Group on August 11 declared support for Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin in their struggle for justice.

  •  Mexican Labour Party supports Vietnamese AO victims

In a letter sent to the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the day when the US started spraying Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin in Vietnam, members of the group expressed their solidarity with Vietnamese people, especially AO victims and demand the US take responsibility for the harmful consequences it caused in Vietnam.

Previously on August 4, Pedro Vázques Gonzáles, the group’s President who is also Politburo member of the Mexican Labour Party sent a letter to the VFF and the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin (VAVA). He said the US army’s ten-year defoliant AO spraying campaign, starting in southern Vietnam on August 10, 1961, caused serious damage to the environment and ecosystem, and its harmful effects remains in the present daily life of millions of victims.

The senator fully backed VAVA’s demand that the US, especially its Down Chemical and Mosanto companies pay AO victims compensation.
