Dietician Rachelle Lyons hosts the first "Healthy Eating Kitchen" as part of the "MOVE!" program. It is just one program, along with Tele-MOVE!, that works with Veterans to develop a more healthy lifestyle.

VA Butler Healthcare’s MOVE! Program now has another program option: Telephone Lifestyle Coaching, or MOVE! TLC. TLC is a weekly/bi-weekly program of learning through a guided workbook and scheduled phone calls by a Veteran’s healthy lifestyle coach.

“TLC is another great option for our Veterans who are working and leading busy lives,” said Laurie Conti, VA Butler Healthcare’s MOVE! Program Manager. “They can learn on their own time and know that someone will be checking in on them and assisting them as they make lifestyle changes.”

MOVE! is the Veteran Weight Management Program that focuses on healthy lifestyle promotion through self management of weight. TLC is designed to support Veterans from home through a guided workbook and scheduled phone calls.

The TLC program covers information on healthy eating, getting more active, and making behavioral changes. Veterans receive a scale to weigh in regularly and a pedometer to track activity. The entire TLC program is scheduled over a span of 18 weeks with calls by the Veteran’s health coach about every 2 weeks to review the workbook lesson, provide support, and help to guide them on their weight management journey.

“Research shows that the more contact people have with a weight management professional, the more success they will have in their journey,” said Conti. “It’s a lifetime commitment and that’s why the MOVE! Program continues to offer more options to fit the needs of all.”

For more information, Veterans may call their VA Butler health care team or the MOVE! Office at 1-800-362-8262 ext 5504.
