VA Butler Healthcare is now offering a monthly PTSD Caregiver Support Group to all caregivers whose Veterans have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The group provides support and discussion for caregivers as well as information about caregiver resources available at VA.
“The new group provides education and discussion about trauma and its effects on both Veterans and caregivers,” said Karen Gliebe, VA Butler’s Caregiver Support Coordinator. “It also provides a chance to learn more about specific caregiver needs, including stress management, relaxation techniques, and identifying resources.”
The support group meets on the third Wednesday of each month from 2:30pm to 3:30pm.The group is ongoing and has open enrollment, so caregivers are always welcome. There is no fee to participate.
VA offers several support programs for caregivers including the Caregiver Support Line (1-855-260-3274), Adult Day Health Care, Home-Based Primary Care, Respite Care, Home Telehealth, and more. VA Butler’s Caregiver Support Coordinator is available to provide caregivers with valuable information about these VA resources and others available to them.
