Press TV has conducted an interview with Gordon Duff, senior editor of VT from Ohio, about President Barack Obama saying the United States underestimated the threat posed by the militants who formed the ISIL Takfiri group.
What follows is an approximate transcription of the interview.
Press TV: What do you make of this, Barack Obama is essentially saying that he pretty much did not know what was going on and now he is ready to act?
Duff: The announcement here is a culmination of rationality. What he is doing also is he is lying through his teeth about who caused the problem.
There has to be a clear admission at some point that ISIL was a witches’ brew cooked up by US, Saudi and Israeli intelligence.
What they have created is taking on a life of its own. Economically, it can live without the Saudi and Qatar money now. It has largely bought its way through the infrastructure of Turkey, controls part of that country now as well.
This is where Obama really underestimated and where things are turning very badly right now.
Press TV: And speaking about underestimated, Syria has for years been saying it has been fighting these very terrorists which Obama now takes a moral authority over saying that now he is going to fight. I wonder then how would he respond to the fact that Syria has also been asking for a political solution to this entire issue?
Duff: It is not like the United States had not gone through the exact same thing for a decade.
This is not like a mistake here. This is something far broader than that. Nobody is so stupid that they cannot see the same things over and over happening now, happening years ago, it is still going on.
I have no idea who can be advising this man.
