Veterans Today Egypt: Mission Accomplished in Libya for Obama and Coalition

USA and the NATO under the cover of yet another noble and humanitarian world mission managed to not only save the day for Gaddafi in Libya, but also to hinder this fervent domino effect in the Arab world that was resketching the region’s political map and menacingly encroaching upon the rich with oil Gulf countries and the rest of Israel’s allies and this is where the red line had to be drawn.

Libya Attack Is A Show Of Farce

Let’s get something straight ~ The United State’s recent preemptive attack on Libya, while flying the flag of NATO, is all about Regime Change under the guise of a Humanitarian intervention. Certainly there was no real attempt to negotiate with Gaddafi ~ like Iraq, the decision was made to attack and events were tailored to justify this action. This is the ongoing formula for western imperialistic change you can believe in ~ particularly if the natives are getting restless.

One Blue Sky Above Us

Kabul -- Before coming to Afghanistan, I spent a week with students and teachers from a Colorado College nonviolence class who invited me to join them for their retreat near Crestone, Colorado, in an area of the Rocky Mountains described as one of the ten most peaceful places on earth. Coyotes, woodpeckers, and songbirds were easily audible. We reveled in the quiet beauty of an area that is home to 23 spiritual groups, all of whom prize the valley they share as a sacred space.

MOHAMMED ABDULLAH GUL: AFGHANISTAN, PATHS TO PEACE

History is about to take a monumental turn in the rugged, desolate hills and dales of Afghanistan where the world's sole superpower leads an alliance facing defeat at the hands of the nameless resistance fighters of al-Qaeda and the Taliban. The impact of this enormous defeat will be felt across the globe. The bloody conflict in Afghanistan has been going on for almost nine years, since October 2001.

‘Mowing the grass’ in Afghanistan

The battle for the Afghan town of Marja is being hyped as if it were the battle of Stalingrad. There was never doubt that NATO would force the Taliban out. A contemporary British account of frontier in the last century said of the Pashtun-fighting man: “When he stayed and defended something, whether a gun or a village, we trapped him and pulverized him. When he flitted and sniped, rushed and ran away, we felt we were using a crowbar to swat wasps.’’

Foreign Policy Briefing 2/16/10

At least nineteen civilians have been killed so far in the US/NATO offensive in Marjah, Democracy Now reports. DN interviewed Wall Street Journal reporter Anand Gopal, who says the assault in Marjah is perceived as a "show of force" by coalition forces that will change little. Gopal says it's very difficult for reporters to get to Marjah; almost all the reporters who are there are embedded reporters, so they're only seeing one side of the story; and we won't know for some time if there are many more cases of civilian deaths.
