Pat Robertson: Haiti ‘cursed’ by pact with devil

9
Last night the Associated Press released an article entitled Pat Robertson: Haiti 'cursed' by pact with devil that is printed in today's Washington Post. The comment is not very helpful is it? Before you get into thinking that Robertson is a fringe element fruit cake you need to know that he is a former Marine Corps officer from the Korean War era, and a highly educated and respected American religious leader and social commentator. The fact that he is more or less nuts with evangelical fervor is off the point. Millions of Americans hang on this guy's every word. And that is the point I want to make here today.

Obama wants record $708B for military next year – Washington Post

3
President Obama, the Nobel Peace Prize Winner, the man I worked hard to elect to the Presidency is going to ask for $708 billion dollars for defense spending next year. I give up all delusions of change. I just plain give up. In an article entitled Obama wants record $708B for military next year in today's Washington Post, we learn that nothing has changed relative to our defense spending insanity in Washington. It is business as usual.

GORDON DUFF: CIA: BUNGLERS OR CON MEN?

8
Were the seven CIA employees killed in the recent terror attack at Camp Chapman in Afghanistan really CIA? Sources now tell us that some were Blackwater operatives, not CIA at all. Is the CIA and Blackwater one in the same? Are either one or both working for the United States or has the disease of privatization created a culture of greed and incompetence that has left the United States vulnerable and defenseless? Are we simply "out of our depth" in Afghanistan?

Scott Gibbs: CLEANSING HISTORY OF BUSH FAILURES

A disturbing new trend seems to be seeping from the Grand Old Party, and it is one that will force Americans to deny a number of key things such as facts, footage, common sense, and, yes, their own memories. Republicans appear ready to convince the country that September 11, 2001 wasn't part of George W. Bush's presidency.

GORDON DUFF: MR. CHENEY, WE AREN’T ALL YELLOW

45
Mr. Cheney, while you and those around you were being kept safe during the Vietnam War, I was fighting in Vietnam. I wasn't fighting for you. If I had known who you were, I would have thrown you in a well in a New York minute. Like generations before me, I hoped my own children wouldn't have to sleep in mud day after day and see their friends blown apart beside them. Now I have to listen to your endless whining about how Americans should think nothing about how important it is to be safe, safe, of course, because we are sending the children we fought to protect out to die for us. If I have to be kept safe in my old age, seeing our kids and grandkids die, many of them husbands, parents, it just isn't worth it. If real killing and dying has to go on to really protect America, something some of us aren't so sure is the case, I will go right now, but I am dragging your bloated hulk with me.

Senate VA Committe Information Flow

0
In November, 2008, Chairman Akaka received a letter from the widow of a veteran regarding the Treasury Department’s seizure of funds from her bank account to reimburse the government for the VA compensation check issued to her late husband the month that he died. The widow had not been notified in advance of this action. Unaware that the funds were no longer in her account, she wrote several checks to honor obligations that she unknowingly could no longer cover. Her bank responded with financial penalties.
