“Does it take a columnist talking to the media of Iran to get action?”

By Press TV and Ken Smith, Columnist Veterans Today

Military suicides have increased since the start of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to a study conducted by the Center for a New American Security  In fiscal year 2009 alone, 1,868 veterans of these wars have made suicide attempts, according to the Armytimes.com   Further study of this unacceptable phenomenon must be started as soon as possible, said Smith.  This complex issue needs to be taken out of the hands of the Department Of Defense (DOD) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).  Outside, non partisan medical experts need to be brought into this problem and tasked with recommendations and suggestions to the President before the end of the year.

After this task force has completed its findings, all aspects of the recommendations need to be implemented within 90 days of the report.  This ensures that we are actually “taking care” of our veterans said Smith.  To do anything less or to let this problem fester and leave it to DOD and the VA to fix, when they are currently failing in addressing the underlying issues is unacceptable.  What are your thoughts on this posting?
