Veteran’s Administration Information

3
Below are web-sites that provide information on Veterans benefits and how to file/ask for them. Accordingly, there are many sites that explain how to obtain books, military/medical records, information and how to appeal a denied claim with the VA. Please pass this information on to every Veteran you know. Nearly 100% of this information is free and available for all veterans, the only catch is: you have to ask for it, because they won't tell you about a specific benefit unless you ask for it. You need to know what questions to ask so the right doors open for you and then be ready to have an advocate who is willing to work with and for you, stay in the process, and press for your rights and your best interests.

March Update from the National Center for PTSD

2
The National Center for PTSD’s vision is to be the foremost leader in information on PTSD and trauma. Because of the commonalities between reactions to various traumatic events, in addition to studying PTSD in Veterans, the Center covers other trauma, including disaster. As a part of VA, the National Center for PTSD has a long history of helping respond in times of national emergency. Given that the NCPTSD has an international presence as a leader in research and education and trauma, we make the following materials available.

Talking with the Tea Party

2
I spent a half-hour yesterday on Warren Olney’s KCRW radio show To the Point, discussing defense spending and deficit reduction. The other participants were Hendrik Hertzberg of the New Yorker (the political writer I’m most jealous of because he writes so damn well), William Hartung of the New America Foundation, and Chris Littleton, co-founder of the Ohio Liberty Council and a committed member of the “Tea Party” movement. If you’re interested, you can get a link to the entire broadcast here.

Further Evidence of Why Blacks Reject the Conservative Movement

20
[Only] 14% of blacks marry. [Seventy-four percent]74% don't know who their fathers are. Their contribution to the arts is gangsta rap, nasty, foul chattering, that passes as music. [Ninety-six percent] 96% voted for Barack Obama, who is the worst fraud and fake ever to set foot in the US. Per capita, blacks represent 80% of prison population violent crimes segment. Billions have been spent on blacks in the US to mainstream them to no avail.

Israel’s Fingerprints Are All Over 9/11 (And I’m Not Afraid to Say It!)

41
Thank you both for your responses. Here’s my two-penneth; I agree that attempting to discuss politics based on ethnic or religious [israel-and-the-clash-of-civilisations] distinctions is usually misguided (although the various groups which constitute the ‘Israel Lobby’ are almost totally motivated by ethnic and religious based ideologies and imperatives). But it gets more tricky when it comes to analyzing the interface between states. I think we do need to recognize that the U.S. and Israel are two different, autonomous, sovereign states whose interests often differ markedly in the Middle East. It is commonly held in international relations theory that states act in their own interests.

Should Law Schools Follow The Medical School Teaching Model?

5
The outstanding record compiled by the trial advocacy teams of the Massachusetts School of Law at Andover(MSLAW) in recent years is directly attributable to the school's innovative teaching methods, the team's coaches believe. Otherwise, how explain the law school's moot court victories over so many formidable law school opponents, including the best of the Ivy League?

3
Percy Schmeiser, a farmer in Saskatchewan, Canada, spent a decade battling GM behemoth Monsanto. In the end, after many setbacks, he came away with a win of $660, which was the cost of removing Monsanto's "Roundup Ready" canola oil seeds off Schmeiser's land.

Jim W. Dean: Where is the Benghazi Brigade?

14
It's March 22nd. The Benghazi Brigade defected a month ago. Initial reports were of 8000 troops, of whom 3000 were Special Forces. In the ensuing weeks there were a few reports about 'training', which one would assume to mean the volunteer rebels. We have also seen a few video clips of young troops doing a bit of drilling and weapons training.

Celebrating Nauroz in Kabul

2
Kabul-Throughout Afghanistan people are gathering to celebrate the Afghan new year, Nauroz. It is a chance for Afghans to celebrate the rebirth of nature after the long winter. In Kabul, today thousands of gathered in the cemetery and spent the day picnicking. Before heading home to share a meal that included seven items to symbolize their hope for the coming year: wheat for rebirth, a sweet pudding for affluence, garlic for health, apples for beauty, berries representing the sunrise, vinegar for patience, coins for prosperity. After 13 days the wheat will be collected and tossed into flowing water, by which time it will have collected the family’s bad luck for the year.

Attack On Libya / Another Obama Broken Promise

8
Make no mistake about this, imposing a No-Fly zone in Libya is an act of war entailing sustained military action as we are already witnessing. So now we have an illegal war and occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan joined to an illegal war and most probably an eventual occupation of Libya ~ where an impatient and greedy BP is already getting ready to drill for oil off the Libya coast.

TEA PARTY BACKERS: Organized Crime, Oil Theft

9
Just what is this Koch Industries? Should it be called a "company?" If so we need to re-think the idea of what a company and a business is supposed to be. Even the brother of Koch Industries owners David and Charles Koch called the company an "organized crime" operation.

Could Obama Fall Victim to a Lack of Change We Can Believe in? (Reprise)

5
I wonder if the president has considered the fact that Cheney just might be trying to get him to make the same kind of mistake in Afghanistan that the Bush Administration made in Iraq in order to take the Iraq issue off the table for the 2012 election? If during the 2012 campaign America is bogged down in Afghanistan with the useless death of thousands of U.S. troops, all of a sudden, Bush, Cheney, and the GOP won't look all that bad. The president should think about that possibility, since the mechinations of Dick Cheney makes Machiavelli look like a trainee.

CIA-ISI cold war and Davis episode

11
ISI-CIA cooperated with each other throughout the war against Soviet forces in Afghanistan in 1980s. The latter never felt offended on being kept in the backseat concerning planning; coordination, training, equipping and launching of Mujahideen were concerned. The US provided intelligence, funds, arms and fighters from other Muslim countries only. The ISI was eulogised and given due credit for the successful conclusion of the war. Its stature grew so high that it was seen as the most potent and effective spy machine in the region and second to none. After 1990, when the US hastily abandoned Pakistan and consequently Pak-US relations got strained, ISI also came in bad books of the US and ignited CIA-ISI cold war. During the two short tenures of PPP, an effort was made to shorten the long arm of the ISI.
