Family Affair
VT includes many posts regarding Israeli/Arab/Palestinian conflict. The venom expressed in some of the posts struck me as worth time and effort devoted to research on what motivates people – to take a position on Middle Eastern warfare. Of course this topic could and does fill libraries.

3/7 Cavalry, Tragedy and Travesty
April 13, 2011 -- On Saturday, the eighth anniversary of the fall of Baghdad, I posted Baghdad's Neutron Bomb and America's Nuclear Obama, with references to back up the explosive title. Military comrades and media colleagues have since asked for a fuller explanation of what moved me from reactionary to revolutionary -- or, as we Texans would put it, from redneck to rebel. A paraphrase of Napoleon is helpful: From redneck to rebel is but a step.

Two "stars" from America's ground support air inventory began service in Libya this week. The A-10 "Warthog," a primitive titanium clad ground support "tank killer" built around a 30mm gun that pours depleted uranium rounds into armoured targets from low levels, is expected to intimidate Gaddafi's forces.

VT Egypt: Mission Accomplished in Libya for Obama and Coalition
USA and the NATO under the cover of yet another noble and humanitarian world mission managed to not only save the day for Gaddafi in Libya, but also to hinder this fervent domino effect in the Arab world that was resketching the region’s political map and menacingly encroaching upon the rich with oil Gulf countries and the rest of Israel’s allies and this is where the red line had to be drawn.

Anthony J. Hall: Racism, Cover-Up and Corporate Fraud in the Fukushima Nuclear Catastrophe
The Fukushima nuclear disaster shows every sign of becoming the most serious industrial accident in history. Thus the failure to properly internationalize the response to this catastrophe is mind boggling. One month after 3/11 a corrupt little company in Japan, TEPCO, is still being left in charge of dealing with an emergency that is quite literally poisoning the planet on a scale that we may not have ever seen before.

FRANKLIN LAMB : Does America have a Muslim problem?
Whatever becomes of the truly pathetic “Pastor” Terry Jones and his plans to appear later this month at the largest Mosque in Michigan to condemn Islam and to generate some media attention while provoking all decent Americans and people of good will everywhere with his hate speech, will not be of much lasting import to Muslim and American relations.
U.S. Government Looting Social Security To Wage Wars
“As long as the $1.2-trillion annual budget for the military-security complex is off limits (to cutting), nothing can be done about the US budget deficit except to renege on obligations to the elderly, confiscate private assets or print enough money to inflate away all debts,” Paul Craig Roberts, former Assistant Treasury Secretary under President Reagan warns.

Baghdad’s Neutron Bomb and America’s Nuclear Obama
April 9, 2011 -- Few people have heard of the Battle of Baghdad, which ended eight years ago today, let alone its cover-up. They might remember Iraq's information minister, Mohammad Saeed al-Sahhaf, warning of a surprise awaiting invading U.S. troops if they attacked Saddam International Airport. Later, al-Sahhaf claimed that the Iraqi Republican Guard had slaughtered U.S. troops, and was in control of the entire facility. His claims were mostly true, but were effectively countered by a U.S. military-media campaign of evasions and distortions that switched the subject from the airport action to Private Jessica Lynch, while ridiculing al-Sahhaf as Baghdad Bob.
