The VA Research Advisory Committee meeting from June 18-19 in Boston was a firestorm that has been ignited.
President Barack Obama today urged all Americans to remember those who sacrificed for the country and to help service members still feeling the effects of war.
"My message to Obama, Vanunu is very supporting Obama policy, Obama Ideology of a Middle East Free from all Nuclear weapons. Vanunu is ready to help Obama in this. Diplomacy Now!!! Freedom Now!!"-Mordechai Vanunu, 24 April 2012 from east Jerusalem
This Monday's talks between President Obama and Prime Minister Netanyahu maybe the most consequential encounter yet between the U.S. and Israel and the focus is all on Iran.
Obama's recent comment on the tenth anniversary of the invasion of Afghanistan, claiming that “our citizens are safer and our nation is more secure” conjures up the image of the allegorical man chained in a cave facing a blank wall and with his back to the fire.
Utilizing the talents of all Americans is essential for our Nation to out-innovate, out-educate, and out-build the rest of the world.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry has been to Israel more than any other presidential candidate and he believes he’s on a mission from God. In his 11 years in office he also wrested much power away from that states Legislature. This citizen of conscience for US House of Representatives has been to Israel seven times since 2005, but I spent my time in occupied Palestine, on my mission from God: seek truth and report it!
This August 6th and 9th mark the 66th anniversaries of the most brutal acts of terrorism upon innocent people; America's atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Having seen Congress’ love fest for Bibi and the humiliation of President Obama, does anyone think writing to your Congressman is going to accomplish anything?
Since Black people are the product of the very same racist environment as White people, we tend to be just as racist toward other Blacks as any Hillbilly. That explains why we never see a drive-by committed by a person wearing a sheet. The Klan has learned, just like the powers that be, that we’re much more efficient at destroying one another than they could ever be.
It seems there are two worlds. The real world of facts and evidence and the unreal world of political fantasy. Our political leaders and their advisers are, apparently, stuck in the unreal one. Their words, and their policies, are built on the assumptions of this fantasy world. They go to war and kill people based on beliefs that are demonstrably false. And the rest of us? Most of us are stuck in our own local niches and beyond them we do not know what is real or unreal. -- Dr. Lawrence Davidson
Conspiracy theorists assure us that Osama bin Laden was killed in December 2001 and his body put on ice in—of course—an undisclosed location. If the recent killing of bin Laden was a lie, who were the liars? All 79 members of SEAL Team 6, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the U.S. State Department, the White House and 16 U.S. intelligence agencies. All conspired to have us believe that he was killed in Pakistan.
There is real anger in the streets toward Obama and it’s not just the Tea Party ( the new name for the hard Christian right ) but also extends through all genders and age groups who generally feel both abandoned and betrayed by Obama’s broken promises
First, Mr. President, allow me to congratulate you on bringing Osama Bin Laden to justice. That one act alone separates you from the disingenuous chest-beaters who have been manipulating American misery to gain political traction. No longer can they wrap themselves in the flag and strut around in their ineffectual, faux patriotism while they accuse the President of the United States of “palling around with terrorists.” The quiet and effective way in which you’ve gone about carrying out America’s business clearly distinguishes who’s the adult in the room, and who's the true American.
President Obama's compromise with Congressional Republicans to reduce the deficit is “a rotten deal” that “hits the poor and the middle class the hardest,” The Nation magazine said in a May 2nd editorial.
In September 2001, the whole world comity was behind USA. The UN had authorized US call to invade Afghanistan and combat terrorism so as to make the world peaceful. The world response to invasion of Iraq in March 2003 was different. Millions came out in the western world to dissuade George W. Bush and Tony Blair from undertaking the venture. Today very few support US imperial pursuits and majority wish termination of war on terror at the earliest. Desire for peaceful resolution of the conflict through political settlement among all stake holders has overshadowed the voices of those wishing continuation of war. This change in perceptions has occurred on account of the belated realization that neither Taliban can be defeated nor terrorism curbed. The world instead of becoming peaceful has become more insecure.
Taking away one's freedom to exercise is one of the subtlest and most debilitating tortures that can be inflicted on a human being. Yet that is how the Pentagon's Robert Gates, with the backing of President Obama, is punishing PFC Bradley Manning. The Army intelligence specialist's alleged offense is to have turned over confidential files to WikiLeaks in part to expose the arbitrary killing of Iraqi civilians and Reuters journalists in Baghdad on July 12, 2007. They were mowed down from an Army Apache helicopter gunship. Rather than welcoming the infamous “Collateral Damage” video proof Manning furnished of this massacre and punishing the actors, Gates, a former CIA director with apparently no scruples, is punishing Manning.
THE PRESIDENT: Tonight, I’d like to update the American people on the international effort that we have led in Libya –- what we’ve done, what we plan to do, and why this matters to us.

Secretary of Veterans Affairs Shinseki has informed his private staff he plans to resign his post and run for the Senate seat to be vacated by Daniel Akaka, Democrat of Hawaii. Shinseki is considered a "shoo in" with no strong opposition in place.
“If there's one goal of this conference (on bullying),” President Obama told those gathered recently at the White House, “it's to dispel the myth that bullying is just a harmless rite of passage or an inevitable part of growing up. It's not.” In fact, he added, bullying is “not something we have to accept.” The president explained that as a child he had been bullied and so identified with the victims.
As I listened to a friend and colleague in Afghanistan a few days ago, the difference I discerned in his voice from previous conversations was visceral. That he unswervingly and joyfully dedicates his every thought, word and deed to advocating for peace in Afghanistan through peaceful means made his tone and tenor all the more heart-wrenching. Our phone connection was not clear, but I thought I heard him say something akin to: I never thought I would hear myself say that the Afghan people need hope now more than they need peace. What I know I did hear him say distinctly, however, was: “The people have nothing to lose now. They are being killed anyway.”
Washington, D.C. (MSP News Services) – March 16, 2011 – A group of disabled veteran business owners announced today the formation of a political action committee (PAC) to increase business opportunities for Service-Connected Veteran Small Business owners (SDVOSB).
The United States of America is in the process of slowly and deliberately destroying a human being before the eyes of the world. All of President Obama's posturing about the conduct of dictator Colonel Muammar el-Qaddafi of Libya will not expunge his own calculated cruelty in allowing his Pentagon to continue the degrading and dehumanizing punishments being inflicted on PFC Bradley Manning, the 23-year-old Army intelligence specialist accused of leaking hundreds of thousands of files to WikiLeaks. AP reports Manning has now been charged with “aiding the enemy,” a crime that can bring the death penalty or life in prison.
